Why epoxy

No grout lines. Nowhere for anything to sit.

Tiles in a commercial kitchen fail at the grout. It goes porous, then it goes black, and eventually a health inspector has something to say about it. A broadcast epoxy floor is one continuous surface from the middle of the room right up the wall.

We cove the junction so there’s no square corner to trap grease, set the falls so water actually reaches the waste, and finish with enough texture that the floor stays safe when it’s wet and oily.

In, done, back trading.

Site visit

We come in and look at the slab, the drainage, the plant that can’t move and how you actually use the room. Then a fixed quote.

Shutdown window

We work to your closure — overnight, weekend or a planned shutdown. Grind, repair, cove and prime.

Coat and hand back

Broadcast coat, aggregate for grip, then the seal. We’ll tell you exactly when you can wash it down and trade on it.

Questions

Commercial flooring questions, answered straight.

Compliance, downtime and grip.

What flooring is required in a commercial kitchen in Queensland?

The floor has to be sealed, impervious and able to be cleaned properly — that’s the practical effect of the Food Standards Code for food premises.

In real terms that means no open joints for food to sit in, coving where the floor meets the wall so there’s no square corner to trap grease, falls to the waste, and a non-slip surface that survives being hosed and degreased. A broadcast epoxy system does all of that in one go.

Can you coat a cold room floor?

Yes. Cold rooms and freezer rooms are a regular job for us.

They need a system chosen for the temperature it’ll actually run at, and the prep has to account for a slab that’s cold and can hold moisture. Done properly you get a seamless floor with no grout lines to fail and nothing for ice to lift.

How long will my kitchen be shut?

Usually a couple of days, and we work around your trade rather than through the middle of it.

Most commercial kitchens we do go in overnight, over a weekend, or across a scheduled shutdown. Tell us when you close and we’ll build the job around that — we’d rather work odd hours than cost you service.

Is epoxy non-slip enough for a commercial kitchen?

It is once aggregate is broadcast into it, which is how we finish every kitchen floor.

A smooth gloss epoxy would be the wrong call in a room with water, oil and people moving fast. We build texture into the topcoat and match how aggressive it is to the room — a wash-up bay and a dry store don’t need the same grip.

Do you do bar areas and cellars as well?

Yes — bars, cellars, bottle stores and back-of-house areas.

They’re the same problem as a kitchen: constant spills, constant washing down, and a floor that has to stay sealed and safe underfoot while it happens.

Can you work around our equipment?

Usually, yes. We’ll coat around fixed plant and cool rooms and cut the finish in neatly against them.

Anything that can be moved gives a better result, because we can take the coating right under it and cove the wall properly. We’ll work that out with you on the quote visit.
