How much does bathroom waterproofing cost in Hervey Bay?
It depends on the size of the wet area and what the substrate needs before the membrane goes on — which is why we quote on site rather than over the phone.
A small ensuite and a big open shower with a hob, a niche and a linear drain are two very different jobs. Send through a couple of photos and the rough square meterage and we’ll come and look at it. Quotes are free and fixed.
How long does waterproofing take to dry before tiling?
Usually 24 to 48 hours, depending on the product, the number of coats and the weather.
Wide Bay humidity slows things down, so we don’t rush it. We’ll tell your tiler exactly when the floor is ready rather than guessing — tiling over a green membrane is one of the quickest ways to cause a leak later.
Does waterproofing in Queensland have to meet a standard?
Yes. Waterproofing domestic wet areas in Queensland is regulated work and has to comply with AS 3740, and it’s covered by the QBCC licensing system.
That means falls to the waste, bond breakers in the corners, fillets where they belong and the membrane turned up the walls to the right height. We do it that way every time, and you get the documentation for your build file.
Can you waterproof a balcony or deck over a living area?
Yes — external balconies and decks over habitable rooms are one of the jobs we do most.
They’re also the least forgiving. The detail at the door threshold, around the drains and up under the balustrade posts is where these fail, so that’s where the time goes.
My shower is leaking — can it be fixed without a full retile?
Sometimes, but usually not. A shower that’s leaking into the next room generally means the membrane has failed or was never done properly, and the membrane sits under the tiles.
We’ll come and look before anyone starts pulling things apart. If there’s an honest patch repair in it we’ll tell you; if it needs stripping back we’ll tell you that too.
Do you do waterproofing for new builds as well as renovations?
Both. We work for builders on new homes across Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast, and directly for owners on bathroom and ensuite renos.
On a new build we work to the trade schedule so we’re in and out between the screeder and the tiler. On a reno we work around you.
